There comes a time when we feel the need to find people online. It can be an old classmate or a long lost relative that you suddenly missed and get in-touch with. There are also instances when all you want to do is to learn about someone either for investigation or for personal family archiving. But regardless of the purpose, the real fact is that there are different ways on how to find people online.

Before starting to find people online, you have to do your best finding first much important information in documents, archives, or anything you can find in your house or from your friends. You have to gather as much data as you can about the person you are trying to find. Before looking for additional information, it is also important to remember that the full name is present because it is a significant initial tool. Additional data may include maiden name, postal address, email, phone numbers, date of birth, occupation, school, social security number, names of relatives, close friends, aliases, and so on.

Search engines are just few of the places where you can find people online. Some examples are Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask, AltaVista, and the like. These tools though are intended for general web searches and not merely on people.

So sometimes it is best to use a search engine that is designed specifically for Finding People.  There are a number of large databases that are searchable.  In my research I have found a search engine that searches many of these databases.  It is called Genius Search and is a great tool for searching for people.
